Joe was my colleague at Ealing Green, and neighbour in Churchfield Road. He had a gentle strength, and was ever kind and supportive; his students loved him. Joe was wonderful company; I loved his sense of humour and the way he always held fast to his sense of justice and humanity. He made a difference to so many of us!
